Just finished reading this column about the boring "all star" race that was force fed to us this past weekend. Seems to miss the point of an event that is supposed to show the talent of the better drivers and teams in the sport. The format has to change for all of NASCAR as their product has become more and more tedious to watch. When we go to the track, we enjoyh the company of our racing friends and the race is secondary. Why? Too much emphasis on finishing the long, long, long boring ovals. Lets start racing boys, and to hell with the nice guys and bump and run as well as take out some SOB that will not get out of the way. Race to win each lap and lets see an end to the long tracks and get more short track racing and shorter distances. 3 to 4 hour races is killing this sport. Allstar events should be a one time 75 lap event and race llike you stole it.

You know, I still like the Indianapolis 500 inspite of the "all those laps". There are one or two other races (foreign) that I enjoy, too, inspite of the race lengths. But, you are so right! Enough is enough, already! Round and round and round like it's a Sunday drive...heck, nobody really cares anyway until the race is in it's more final laps. So, if you're going to keep the long race, then RACE for crying out loud! Or, cut out the wasted-time and shorten the race...maybe, then, it will be a do-or-die race to the finish line all the way through. (Maybe then I would watch the races!)
We are in agreement.
