Tolerance of others and their thoughts

May 20, 2008 / by theprofessor

I recently had some laughs with an elderly gent with a superman logo who could not accept that their is diversification in this world and that anyone who did not see the world in his near sightedness was automatically classified as a "queer".  What a shame that this dialogue could not have continued as he was good for a few laughs and had, perhaps, some interesting thoughts that are not yet shared with people who disagree with his viewpoints,  Alas, the world will not have the expertise of this narrow minded nit wit.  So, so long Joe, its been fun.

    Can you be more specific?

Are you speaking of the same Joe as I think you are speaking of, or is it someone you did just happen to meet?

Either way, though, it's a terrible thing to be narrow-minded about anything.  We were given so much ability to think and experience and learn in a vast array of ways because life is filled with so very much...and this world is filled with so very much.  Differing opinions will always exist, but to see all things in just one way without even an ounce of considering a new idea or concept (or even a fact, at times) is so very sad.  It's almost like it's not using the gift of the mind that was given.

I believe that  we are speaking of the same person.  Kind of sad that one has to be so pigheaded as to not realize that different opinions are good for the soul.
